Với sự đóng góp của Liên Hội Tuổi Trẻ San Diego (VAYA), hội sinh viên Việt Nam tại UCSD & SDSU, và tạp chí Gạch Nối tại UCSD.
The Vietnamese American Youth Alliance (VAYA), in working collaboration with Gach Noi UCSD Vietnamese Student Magazine, the Vietnamese Student Associations of SDSU and UCSD , is teaming up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation through Komen San Diego in order to tackle one of the most overlooked but one of the most high risk diseases amongst Vietnamese women: breast cancer.
One of the ways to help and spread breast cancer awareness amongst Vietnamese women and the rest of the community is to come together as a single Vietnamese entity and partake in Komen San Diego’s largest fundraiser and awareness event: the 2009 Komen San Diego Race for the Cure on Sunday, November 1st in Balboa Park. This is a 5K (3.1 mile) event in which participants can complete at their own pace (crawl, walk, trot, jog, run or sprint).
VAYA and collaborating organizations have registered a team for this event, team name “Vietnamese Americans for the Cure,” and are looking for 50 participants to take part in this race. If traveling 3.1 miles is not of one’s interests, there are many other ways to be involved this hot issue.
Up to the race, we will be having various of events and meetings to better inform and involve people that want to be interested. This will range from weekly fun trots at random locations throughout San Diego, informational meetings and brain storming sessions, to fundraiser and awareness drives.
